GAINESVILLE, Ga. - GTO 2000, one of the nation’s fastest growing providers of transportation logistics, today announced its expansion into the intermodal rail market.

The company’s new North American intermodal operation will provide greater flexibility in transportation options and cost efficiencies for its shipper customers, according to GTO 2000 President Gregg Gordon.

In addition, the environment will be another beneficiary, Gordon said, due to lower fuel emissions with rail traffic. The company maintains a progressive commitment to the SmartWaySM Transport Partnership – an innovative collaboration among manufacturers, freight carriers, transportation logistics providers and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.

“Our entry into the intermodal freight market comes as shippers and carriers increasingly seek ways to ensure capacity and control costs,” Gordon said. “We welcome this trend as we constantly strive to respond, meet and enhance services to our customers and partners.”

In addition to its intermodal operations, GTO 2000 recently opened several new flatbed and van operations offices, including Boston and across the U.S. border into Canada. The expansion is part of a major growth strategy by the 65-employee company that was initiated in 2010.

Founded in 1975, GTO 2000 provides transportation services in freight brokerage and logistics management, including dedicated truck capacity and time-sensitive over-the-road shipping. The non-asset-based company specializes in refrigerated products, dry freight, flat bed, full truckload, less-than-truckload, and expedited freight.
